Education
Our goal is to make certain every child has a quality education. A child who has access to quality schooling has a better chance in life. Education provides a child with a solid foundation for continued learning and equips the child with skills to lead a productive life in society. This is essential to break the cycle of poverty and ensure these children will not return to the streets. We provide the fees, uniforms, haircuts, and meal fees that are necessary for school entry. We also provide tutoring to enable every child to succeed and pass their exams.
Health
Street children are at high risk of physical abuse, sexual abuse, hunger, drug use, violence, disease, and labor exploitation. WYN enables children to live free from these dangers in a healthy, safe environment where every child is provided access to hygiene, healthy, hearty, nutritious meals, fresh water and exercise. We also provide medical insurance so they are able to seek medical care when needed. Children who were previously malnourished, underweight, dirty and unhealthy children transform into vibrant, robust, happy children full of the endless energy children should have.
Cool Kids Club
The WYN House is a lively place filled with love, laughter and an assortment of learning opportunities designed to ensure their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. Every day the children participate in a wide variety of activities at our “Cool Kids Club.” The daily schedule includes Bible lessons providing them a spiritual foundation and teaching them to have good moral conduct. We also teach them basic life skills so they learn responsibility and the value of hard work. There is a portion of the day to allow the children to develop their skills and talents through games, art, music, sports, and dancing. They develop positive social skills and form strong bonds of friendships with each other and with the staff.
Everyday Tourist
Children on the streets have no access to hygiene so the children are dirty, clothed in filthy rags that don’t fit feeling embarrassed and ashamed. They stand out miserably amongst the colorful clothing of the community around them. Cleanliness is one of the first steps towards the health and happiness of our WYN kids. We provide hygiene and comfortable, clean clothing that they like allowing them to feel confident and happy. It helps them feel more accepted by their peers reversing the stigma of street life.
Projects & Events
“Field of Joy” is a community project that began in 2020. So far, we have built a soccer field being used weekly by WYN children and also welcomes neighboring children from the surrounding villages every Saturday to join in the fun. This field provides children the unique opportunity to learn soccer under the excellent instruction of our professional coach Ollie. Our ultimate vision is to also add a basketball court, gym, locker rooms, and a swimming pool giving these children activities they could have only dreamed of.
Parties are a time of joy and laughter at WYN. Every month we celebrate birthdays with cake, singing, treats and gifts. Imagine the joy of a child that went from begging on the streets to one who is loved and celebrated.
Christmas is a wonderful time of excitement, laughter, and delight. We celebrate the birth of Jesus with a party. We supply a delicious Christmas dinner and present each child with a unique gift that was their personal wish. This year everyone wanted new clothes so our staff found something special to fit each child’s individual taste and style. The children were all very grateful and happy.
Shoes
In addition to the necessary school uniforms, everyday clothing, and sandals the children need shoes for the rainy season but do not have the means to buy them. WYN provided new shoes for our children. The children were all ecstatic to receive new shoes.
